Tahunanui Pharmacy has Maritime Medical Stores Surveyors. They are inducted at Port Nelson and Sealord to provide fully compliant medical kit and maintenance service for both commercial and private vessels operating under Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) Maritime Rules Part 50: Medical Stores as legislated by the NZ Government regulations.

We have staff that can meet AMSA Medical Carriage Requirements (Cat A-C) as set by the Australian Government to regulated Australian vessels that must be equipped with a medicine chest that contains the medicines and medical equipment that would allow an appropriately trained person to treat injuries and illnesses on board the vessel until a patient can be transferred to the care of a medical practitioner.

We can also service Foreign Flag Vessels under guidance of the International Medical Guide for Ships.

For NZ Registered Vessels
As per Maritime New Zealand: Maritime Rules Part 50: Medical Stores as legislated by the NZ Government all commercial ships, survival craft and rescue boats carried by them with the exception of:

- jet boats operating in rivers
- river rafts
- fishing boats of less than 6 metres in length which do not operate beyond enclosed waters (rivers and lakes) or more than 2 miles off the coast

require Medical Stores (medicines and medical equipment) and medical guides for first-aid and medical care of those on board who become ill or suffer injury.

The requirements for medical stores are based on operating limits and voyage duration, ship size, the number and gender of seafarers on board, and the work performed by the ship : Scale 1 - 4

- Boarding Vessels at Port Nelson and Sealord Wharf to undertake Medical Stores Survey

- Custom solutions – we can tailor kits for specialised needs and/or international requirements. Dispense all medications for Private Pleasure crafts on presentation of a prescription written by a NZ Registered Doctor.
